Terminator: Dark Fate trailer drops - Promises machine mayhem (Slot on the way?)

Paramount has shown off a new trailer for Terminator Dark Fate - the true sequel to the 1991 blockbuster. How does it stand out? And could we see a slot in the near future? Let's take a look.

After an abysmal stretch of follow-ups -  the 1991 blockbuster Terminator 2 (and it's dedicated Terminator 2 slots) looks set to get a true sequel. James Cameron is finally turning up the heat on the machine war with Terminator: Dark Fate.

The Terminator: Dark Fate trailer is now available to view online - and you can watch it right here. Dropping in theaters November time, the new film will reunite familiar faces... and also introduce some brand new ones.

The Day after Judgement Day

First of all, this film does not follow the events of the disastrous 3rd, 4th or even 5th film. All of which were received poorly by critics. In fact, producer James Cameron actually wants to pretend that the entire timeline was a bad dream.

Terminator: Dark Fate is instead a direct sequel to Terminator 1 and 2. He also suggests that the previous films could be part of an alternate timeline. Which is acceptable, given the time travelling gymnastics of the series.

In the trailer, we are introduced to a band of new characters - who are trying to outrun a new machine. This new creation seems far more advanced than the T-1000 - as it can actually create clones of itself.

Sarah Connor kicks metal ass

As the group are cornered by this new mechanical menace, who should show up other than Linda Hamilton aka Sarah Connor. She then proceeds to pump one machine full of lead - and blow up the other with a rocket launcher. A badass reintroduction if we ever saw one.

Among the interesting newbies appears to be a machine who still believes she is a human being. And it looks like she will be facing off against the new cloning machine baddie. There also seems to be another child who is important to the future of the human race. And this mirrors the whole John Connor scenario of the second film.

Another treat for fans was confirmation that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be returning for another stab at Skynet, reprising his role as the T-800. Well it's not really Terminator without Arnie, is it?

Terminator 2 Recap: A classic

While no one knows the story of the latest film in the series, it seems like a good idea to get accustomed to the events of Terminator 2. In particular, the ending - which saw John Connor and Sarah Connor safe after the skirmish with the T-1000.

Arnie, unfortunately, became molten metal - so there's some explaining to do with the new film. But we're sure there is some kind of complicated time travelling reason in store.

So are you excited for the new film? You could binge-watch the first two movies in preparation for that long November wait when Terminator: Dark Fate hits cinemas. Or you can read our full Terminator 2 slots review and enjoy some gambling fun.
