Age of the Gods: King of Olympus Slot Review Review

Playtech has brought out the big guns in this instalment of the Age of the Gods series, with Zeus, the King of Olympus. It’s a five-reel, 25 payline slot, with sticky wilds, multipliers and a free games feature. However, it’s the four titanic potential progressive jackpots that are the main attraction. 

The slot is played across five reels and three rows with 25 fixed paylines. You can set your bet from 0.25 coins up to 250 coins by using the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons. An ‘info’ button can help you learn the rules and decode the paytable. Then hit ‘Spin’ ‘Auto’ or ‘Turbo’ depending on the choices in your jurisdiction. 

You are aiming for at least three of a kind of any symbol, but the highest paying (aside from the scatter) are Pegasus at 1000 coins for five-of-a-kind and the eagle at 600.

If you land three, four, or five scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, you will get a 3x, 10x, or 100x your total stake and trigger the Free Games feature. 

There are only two bonus features in this slot, including the four progressive jackpots as one feature.

The free games feature is triggered by landing three or more scatters and you will be granted 10 free spins. On the first spin, there is a 2x multiplier, from the third spin onwards, the multiplier increases by 1x. You get a 6x multiplier on your nine and tenth free spins, creating the potential for an 18,000x payout. 

There is also an extra wild symbol in the middle of reel three. This wild stays sticky for all ten free spins helping you to create more winning combos. 

As with the other AOTG titles, the four AOTG progressive jackpots can be triggered at any time. A temple filled with gold coins shows the four jackpots alongside as follows: power, extra power, super power and ultimate power.

The sky is clear then stormy, with the deep blue reels seemingly suspended in mid-air. The symbols are as detailed as ever, with Zeus, Pegasus and other icons of Ancient Greece such as a harp, an eagle and a ship all present. 

Even the lower-value playing card symbols are done in Jewell colours with a mystical shimmer and a gold trim. This time, the music is mysterious, even haunting, creating an otherworldly atmosphere and there’s a lightning animation to indicate added multipliers. 

King of Olympus doesn’t have the same elements of choice that some of its sister titles do. There aren’t as many bonus features, and the design isn’t quite as epic as some of the other AOTG slots. However, the 18,000x maximum win is decent, even without the potential of the four progressive jackpots. If you like the series, take King of Olympus for a spin. On the other hand, if you decide to skip it in favour of one of the other instalments, you wouldn’t lose out.
