Age of the Gods: Goddess of Wisdom Slot Review

Another instalment in Playtech’s Age of the Gods slot series, Goddess of Wisdom is based around the Greek Goddess Athena. Played on five reels, with 20 paylines and four progressive jackpots, the game offers plenty of potential rewards for those who succeed. Athena was also the Goddess of War, and it's the Battle Game where you may be victorious in this attractive adventure. Let’s take a closer look. 

The game is played across five reels and three rows with 20 fixed paylines. Play for as little as 0.20 coins up to 500 coins and choose to spin manually or hit the ‘Auto’ button. Landing two or more of any of the high-value symbols will offer you a decent payout. The top value symbols are the Gorgon pendant which will grant you a whopping 5000x your stake for five of a kind, followed by the golden armour and helmet which both offer 1000x your stake for five. 

Athena is the Wild symbol and will appear randomly on reels two, three, and four. She will substitute for all the other symbols, apart from the Owl scatter symbol, to help you create more winning combinations.

Landing three or more of the Owl scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will trigger the battle game, described below.

The corresponding symbol will replace the other two on the free game reels. The Athena Wild will also expand to cover the whole reel in all three free game modes to increase your win potential. However, you can’t retrigger free spins in any of the three game modes.

Just like in the slot’s sister titles, you can trigger the AOTG jackpot at any time. You will see a temple filled with gold coins and, alongside, four jackpots as follows: power, extra power, super power and ultimate power.

As we’ve come to expect from Playtech, this is a lovely looking slot. The graphics are glorious, as is the attention to detail. The reels are flanked by marble pillars with gold trim, signifying we have entered Mount Olympus. Symbols include Athena’s owl (scatter symbol), which flaps its wings, an olive branch, winged sandals, golden body armour, Athena’s helmet, and a magic pendant featuring the Gorgon’s head. Athena herself is the Wild and dons her helmet as she goes into the battle game. A soaring backing track adds to the ‘epic’ nature of the slot.

Another nice addition to the Age of The Gods slot series, Goddess of Wisdom does fall slightly behind some of its sister titles due to a lower RTP. Still, with the potential for four progressive jackpots, plus free spins and multipliers, it's certainly worth checking out if you’re a fan of AOTG or mythological slots.
