To determine the value of the hands, standard poker rankings are used. Since hands only have three cards, some poker hands, such as the straight flush (five cards of the same suit and in order) can’t be made in this game.
So how do you play Three Card Poker?
- First of all, you place your ante bet. Then, you and the dealer are each dealt three cards. If you don’t like the look of your hand, you fold and lose your ante bet. If you think your hand is worth playing, you place a second bet called a play bet, which is equal to your ante bet.
- Your hand and the dealer’s hand are then compared. If the dealer’s hand is a Jack high or worse, your ante bet is paid out at 1:1 and your play bet is returned at a push. A Jack high is a hand that doesn’t belong to any of the main poker hand categories and has a Jack as its highest ranking card.
- If the dealer’s hand is Queen high or better, the two hands are compared. If your own hand ranks higher, your two bets are both paid out at 1:1. However, if the dealer’s hand is better, you lose both your bets.
There are three extra bets which can help you score some big wins. They are:
- The Ante Bonus pays out if your hand is a straight or better whether your hand wins or loses.
The other two are side bets that cost extra; like the Ante Bonus, both of these bets pay out regardless of the outcome of the game.
- The Pair Plus bet gives you a payout if your hand is a pair or higher. For this, the maximum payout is 100:1.
- As for the Six Card Bonus bet, this is the game’s most lucrative bet. For this bet, you combine your own cards and two of the dealer’s to make the best five-card poker hand possible. Make a three of a kind or greater and you’ll win - the highest payout for this particular bet is a huge 1000:1.
