  • Mint.io Casino prioritizes player retention over acquiring new users.
  • It draws inspiration from dynamic games like Fortnite for user engagement.
  • Mint.io's launch marks the start of a potential Web3 arcade ecosystem.
Details from a recent Pavlo Krombet meeting highlight a shift in how crypto casinos may be built going forward, but is Mint.io Casino truly something new?

Krombet Shines Light on New Crypto Casino

Pavlo Krombet, who works as a private consultant across the iGaming industry, recently shared notes via his X channel from a meeting with Zak Manhire and the Mint.io Casino team, offering an early look at how the platform is thinking about iGaming.

One point was made clear during the session: “MINT is not trying to be another crypto casino”, but how many times have we heard that before?

According to Krombet, instead of following the usual model, the team is focusing on retention, which would involve keeping players engaged over time rather than constantly chasing new members.

It all sounds too familiar, but perhaps the new platform really is onto something…

Twitter Is Mint Casino Genuinely Different

Built Around Progression

It’s apparent that the main topic from the meeting was that “progression is the product”.

Krombet’s recap on X states that Mint Casino is designed so that player activity builds over time. Players earn XP, move through tiers, maintain streaks, and unlock rewards. Systems like rakeback and lossback are built into that loop.

The structure is closer to game design than traditional casino design.

The team also looks outside iGaming for inspiration, including products like Roblox and Fortnite that are referenced for engagement, while Duolingo is known for its streak systems. User experience ideas are drawn from platforms like Netflix and Amazon, where speed and simplicity are key.

The aim is quite clearly to create something that feels familiar and easy to return to.

Competing for Attention

One of the more notable lines shared from the meeting was: “MINT’s real competition is dopamine”.

It’s not just about competing with other casinos, but with anything that takes up a user’s time, like video games, social platforms, and short-form content.

The platform is being built infrastructure-first, with the launch positioned as a starting point rather than a finished product. The long-term vision includes a wider ecosystem, potentially expanding into areas like a Web3 arcade and other game-driven experiences.

The approach, as described in the meeting, is “low burn, minimal hype, product first”, which certainly seems to be the case as things stand, but only time will tell whether or not this is truly a matter of innovation and not just another hit and hope.
