If you’re looking to play Caribbean Stud Poker online, you’ll find there’s no shortage of online casinos that have this game available to play. Many casinos have animated versions, while quite a few offer live versions with real-life croupiers overseeing the game. You’ll find this game at many of the biggest, most popular online casinos around. Casinos that have this game typically have a wide range of other online table games, such as blackjack, baccarat, roulette and other poker variants, so you’ll be spoilt for choice with playing options.
What Is Caribbean Stud Poker?
Also known as casino stud poker, Caribbean Stud Poker is a popular poker variant that’s actually quite different from the standard game. This is because it’s played against the dealer and not against any other players. There can be several players taking part in a single game, but each and every one of them is competing against the dealer.
It doesn’t require as much from you, the player, as other poker games. All you have to do is simply place your bet, decide whether to place a second, optional bet, look at your cards and decide whether to gamble or not. Once you have your hand, there’s no changing of cards like in other poker games. This can make the game quite fun and unpredictable.
Caribbean Stud Poker Rules
You’ll be pleased to learn that the Caribbean Stud Poker rules are fairly straightforward. In fact, the game is a lot easier to get to grips with than many other poker games. First of all, you place your ante bet, which is a mandatory bet you must place to indicate you’re taking part in the game. You may also, if you wish, place a bet on the progressive jackpot if the casino is offering this.
Each player gets dealt five cards, all face-down. The dealer gets dealt five cards, again all face-down. Once all cards have been dealt, the dealer will then turn over one of their cards. Once this is done, you’re allowed to look at your own hand of five cards.
You then have a choice to make: you can either play the hand by placing an additional bet worth twice your initial ante bet (called the raise bet), or you can fold and forfeit your ante bet. Once all players’ decisions have been made, the dealer then turns over their four face-down cards.
If the dealer’s hand contains both an ace and a king or forms any kind of higher-ranking poker hand, their hand qualifies and the dealer gets to play. If the dealer’s hand doesn’t meet these requirements, the dealer is out of the game. Should this happen, your ante bet gets paid at 1:1 and your raise bet is pushed (returned to you in full). The lowest qualifying hand for the dealer is ace, king, 4, 3, 2, whereas the highest non-qualifying hand is ace, queen, jack, 10, 9.
If the dealer plays, your hand is compared with the dealer’s. Should your hand be of a lower poker ranking than the dealer’s, you’ll lose both your ante and raise bets; if it’s a tie, you receive both your ante and raise bets back with no extra money won.
Should your hand outrank the dealer’s, your ante bet is paid out at 1:1 and you’ll receive an additional payout depending on your hand:
A, K, Q, J and 10 of the same suit
Five cards of the same suit in sequence
Four of a kind
Four cards of one rank and one card of another rank
Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank
Five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence
Five cards in sequence, but not of the same suit
Three of a kind
Three cards of one rank and two cards of two other ranks
Two cards of one rank, two cards of another rank and one card of another rank
One pair or less
Two cards of one rank and three cards of three other ranks
If you’ve bet on the progressive jackpot and you beat the dealer, you’ll win set payouts for a flush, full house or four of a kind. If you win with a straight flush, you’ll win 10% of the progressive jackpot’s value. If you win with a royal flush, you’ll win the entire progressive jackpot.
So if you’ve been asking yourself ‘what is Caribbean Stud Poker?’, now you know. The game is one of the simpler poker variants and is great fun to play. It’s a lot different from standard poker games, of course, but that hasn’t stopped it becoming a popular game in its own right.
Caribbean Stud Poker Bonus
If you’re looking for Caribbean Stud Poker bonuses to claim, you’ll want to keep an eye out for deposit bonuses. These reward you with some bonus money when you make a deposit. If you deposit, for example, £100 into your casino account and the deposit bonus is offering 100% up to £100, you’ll receive a free £100 in bonus money, for a total of £200 to play with.
Most of the time, you can use bonus money on Caribbean Stud Poker and other poker games. However, we advise you check the ‘Game Limitations’ rules regarding the bonus’ wagering requirement. From this, you will be able to calculate exactly how much you need to wager in order to claim a profit from the casino’s offer.
Play Caribbean Stud Poker Online
As mentioned above, there are loads of Caribbean Stud Poker casinos out there. This poker variant is a big hit with players because it offers a different take on the game, so it should come as no surprise that it’s widely available. It’s also a good introductory poker game as it still involves poker hands, but isn’t as demanding or decision-based as other variations. If you’re new to poker, Caribbean Stud is a great version to play to learn the ropes.
