The Dark Knight Slots Review
Microgaming's Dark Knight series is one of their biggest branded slot success stories, combining razor-sharp visuals with compelling gameplay to produce an unforgettable yet suitably dark, brooding adventure that gone down as well with slots fans as it has with fans of the movie franchise.
NOTE: Microgaming's deal to license Batman in slot games has now expired. Playtech now has a deal with Warner Brothers and has launched a new Dark Knight Slots. The review below reflects the Microgaming version of the game,
The Dark Knight Slots Review
Microgaming’s patented Cinematic Spins was given its first outing on the Lord of the Rings slot, which sadly has to be withdrawn for legal reasons – but it was a superb game and the Cinematic Spins was what gave it an edge.
This trademarked idea allows you to reduce the opacity of the reels to any setting you like so that background pictures or movie clips from the relevant film can be seen, making for a far more immersive and visibly attactive playing experience.
Whilst the Lord of the Rings Game was dropped, thankfully the Cinematic Spins technology was kept and has now been applied to a number of premium launches from Microgaming – with The Dark Knight being the most well-known and the impressive Gotham City nightscape background is particularly easy on the eye in our opinion.
The Dark Knight Slots Bonus Features
The Dark Knight uses all-way betting which means any route from left to right counts as a winning line of which there are 243 in total. This makes it incredibly easy to score line wins as you can imagine, and on top of this there are additional surprises:
The wild symbol is the Dark Knight video slot logo: it substitutes other symbols to make up wins as you’d expect, but it can also act as a stacked wild randomly during gameplay. Stacked wilds make it much easier to land winning combinations, avoiding the dreaded scenario of narrowly missing out on a fantastic jackpot prize just because one symbols was on the wrong line.
The Dark Knight Slots Free Spins
The scatter symbol is a mash up of the batman logo and the joker's face. Get two and you win a double stake, and you'll set off the free spins feature if you manage to land three or more scatters anywhere on the reels.
The free spins feature, when triggered by scatters, can give you up to 15 free spins, depending on the number of scatters you get. Free spins start with a double multiplier, which can head up during the free spins round. While you are in the free spins feature, The Dark Knight logo acts as a stacked wild, accelerating you free spin wins.
There’s also a fantastic free spins feature that rewards you with 15 free spins starting with a double multiplier. Best of all, there are four progressive jackpots to be won with the largest starting at 1,000,000 coins.
The Dark Knight Slots Payouts & RTP
The Mini, Minor, Major and Mega progressive jackpots default to £10, £100, £10,000 and £1 million respectively, though the sky’s the limit if the pot fills up for long enough.
The RTP on this game is 96.3% and the variance is low to medium, so regular wins with a decent return are very possible.
