About Gonzo's Quest Online Slot
Central to the gameplay is the plot: you follow Gonzo - a gold loving conquistador on the hunt for treasure in 1541. And this leads us to his pursuit of the legendary city of El Dorado and an unending trek through the jungles of Latin America.
One of the many reasons why this slot became so popular is that it was one of the first slots made available for both smartphones and tablets.
Gonzo's Quest also pioneered the falling symbols mechanic. The avalanche element - which sees winning blocks removed from the reels for more symbols to join was an intuitive and new approach at the time.
How to play Gonzo's Quest
Gonzo's Quest is a 5x3 slot that can be played from 10p a spin. Winning combinations are accepted from left to right and could be anything from three identical symbols up to a five of a kind match.
A winning combination will cause the blocks in question to explode, causing new symbols to fall and take their place. If the new blocks create yet another winning combination, the blocks will explode to make way for new symbols, giving you a chance for yet another winning combo.
Combo wins result in the accumulation of a rewarding multiplier. The second winning combination will be multiplied by 2x, the third by 3x, and the fifth by 5x (4 is skipped, for some reason).
If you are lucky enough to hit more than five combinations in the same spin, they will still only be multiplied by 5x as that is the maximum for regular gameplay. During free spins, the cap on this multiplier is significantly increased.
The wave symbol mechanic makes every spin extra interesting as soon as a new combo is locked in. Free spins are more or less guaranteed as new blocks take the place of the old ones.
Gonzo's Quest Free Spins & Bonus Features
There are 7 different symbols in the game: blue, green, brown, purple, yellow, pink and grey. In addition to these symbols, there is a bonus symbol in the shape of a golden mask. There is also a question mark symbol which acts as the game wild.
You can only get the free fall-symbol on the first 3 "reels". Once three of these symbols landing you will receive 10 free spins. During the feature the avalanche reel-feature is still active; winning blocks will explode to make space for new ones. But in free fall, you start with a x3 multiplier when you win.
If you manage to hit more winning combinations these will be worth x6, x9 or x15. More winning combinations than that will still "only" give you x15 the bet. If you get three free fall-symbols during a free fall bonus round, you will be awarded ten additional free falls.
Theoretically you could go on forever, but in reality the fun will eventually come to an end. At the bottom of the screen, the number of remaining free fall-rounds is displayed.
The wild symbol is a golden question mark on a purple block. You can get this wherever on the screen, and it will then replace all the other symbols, which makes it possible to get more winning combinations in different directions.
